CDF Board: 3 Types of Projects that Commonly Use this Material

Compact Density Fibreboards (CDF) are a much denser version of the common MDF boards. They are engineered boards made of wood fibers and resin that are pressed together using high temperature and pressure. The CDF shares similar traits to the common MDF, such as its smooth surface and clean finish, and its deep black color gives the board a clean, finished look without additional coating.

Because of its high density (>1,000 kg/m³), the CDF is greatly favored for furniture and decorum in areas with high traffic or frequent exposure to moisture and liquids. So, are there any other projects that commonly use these boards as materials? Check out some of the common examples in the article below.

CDF-Based Exhibition Booths

The CDF’s smooth surface, low swelling, and scratch resistance make them great materials for exhibition booths. They are easy to assemble and take apart, which is essential when joining a limited-time exhibition. These booths will need materials that are sturdy enough to withstand high foot traffic from visitors and hold their shape throughout the event. The CDF’s smooth surface also allows us to apply various finishing papers and coatings that can enhance the overall look of the booths.

CDF-Based Toilet Cubicle Doors

A popular application of the CDF is by using them for toilet cubicle doors. Favored for its high density, the CDF can retain its shape even when exposed to moisture and possible water splashes in a public toilet setting. Additionally, the CDF’s moisture resistance can be fortified using varnish, wax, oil, or other hydrophobic materials. These boards will not easily swell nor bend even after prolonged exposure, thus ideal for public toilets in hotels, malls, office spaces, and even religious sites.

Cafe and Shop Displays

Cafes and shops require sturdy shelves that can display the necessary products they sell as well as decorum that increases the overall look of the interior. Shelves and cabinets used in stores and cafes may or may not hold heavy items (such as refrigerated display units, heavy clothing, or books) for long periods. The CDF’s robust density and durability allow ample support for heavy-duty items and prolonged use.

Despite having various applications and high density, the CDF requires specialized hard metal tools that can cleanly cut through its fibers without risking injuries and production mishaps. The CDF is ideal for creating durable furniture, resilient interior spaces, and installations that can be easily assembled and taken apart. If you’re looking for more information on good-quality CDF for your future projects, consult PT Sumatera Prima Fibreboard (www.spf.co.id) for more information.
